Ruth Mae Sanders

Asheville - Ruth Mae Ray Sanders, 81, of Macedonia Road passed away Saturday October 9, 2004. A native of Buncombe County. Ruth was a member of Victory Baptist Church, was formerly employed with Payless Shoe Store and at Sky City and was an avid bowler and bingo player. She was the loving wife of the late Ed Sanders and daughter of the late Tom Ray and Estie Ingle Ray Waters. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Dollie Ray; sisters, Alice Peterson, Lois Edmonds; brother, Howard Ray and grandchild, Johnathan. Surviving are her six children, daughter, Shirley Sanders Harwood and husband Don of Old Fort; sons, Leland and wife Linda, Neal and wife Pat, Leroy and wife Mary Ann, Kenneth and wife Donna all of Asheville and Cecil and wife Jo Ann of Charlotte; sisters, Sara Lee Frisell and Addie Mae Hardy both of Asheville; brothers, Tommy, William, James and Jack Ray all of Asheville; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Sprinkle and Rev. Billy Clark officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday immediately following services at the church and at other times the family will be at the home of a son, Leroy Sanders, Wright Road, Asheville.
