Ruth Hendrix Penley

Candler - Ruth Revis Hendrix Penley, 83, died Saturday March 29, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late James Newton and Laura Belle Rogers Revis and the wife of the late Harold Hendrix who died in 1979 and the late Boyce Penley who died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Janie Revis, Mable Martin Jones , Jimmie Kate Jackson and Emma Hendrix and a brother, Hub Revis. Surviving are her daughters, Sandy McPherson and husband William of Mills River and Vicki Roemhild and husband Terry of Kanab, Utah; stepdaughter, Brenda Arthur of Arden; sister, Thelma Fore of Asheville; nine grandchildren; one step grandson and seven great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sorrells officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
