Ruth G. Hicks

July 24, 1928 — November 9, 2021

Asheville – Ruth Gentry Hicks, 93, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Covert Gentry and Magnolia Massey Gentry. She was the wife of Wayne McNeil Hicks who died August 12, 2009. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Harvest Time Assembly for many years where she served as a greeter and in the nursery. Surviving are her children: Sammy Hicks of Arden, Diane Riddle (Mike) of Candler, and Sharon Lee (Roy) of Asheville; grandchildren: Chris Hicks, Tina Hicks, and Charles Lee; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Lee. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 till 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home. The Hicks family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to the staff of the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge for their exceptional care for Mrs. Hicks.
