Ruby Walker Ponder

Fairview – Ruby Walker Ponder, 86, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired in 1991 after 25 years of service with Square D. Mrs. Ponder was a daughter of the late Homer Albert Walker and Carrie Mae Ledford Walker and wife of Jack Ward Ponder who died in January 2002. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Robena Merrill and brother, Roy Walker. Surviving are her daughter, Kathie L. Davall (Gene) of Fletcher; sister, Revonda Walker Hawkins of Leicester; brother, Rex Walker of Lancaster, SC; grandson, James Eugene Cole, III of Asheville and great grandchildren, Brittany & T.J. both of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Alf Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery A time of gathering will be from 1 to 2 PM Thursday for family and friends at the funeral home.
