Ruby Sue Taylor

November 2, 1911 — January 12, 2003

Mills River - Ruby Sue Murphy Taylor, 91, died Sunday January 12, 2003 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville after a period of declining health. A native of Union S.C. she resided in Buncombe County until moving to Henderson County in 1957. She was formerly employed with American Enka Corp. She was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and attended Fanning Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as the church pianist for many years. She was also a member of the Powder Creek Quilters. She was a daughter of the late Mary Agnes Wilburn Murphy and William Judson Murphy and the wife of the late Robert W. Taylor who was the founder and co-owner of Taylor and Murphy Construction Co. She was also preceded in death by two daughters; Mary Ann Taylor and Rebecca Sue Travis; brothers; Scaife, Roger, Ralph and Russell Murphy and sisters; Florence Rebecca and Lucille Murphy. Surviving are her daughter, joy T. Saunooke and husband Tommy of Mills River; four grandsons and their wives, Will and Tracie Rice of Camden, S.C., Jason and Sherri Rice of Fletcher, Keith and Amy Rice of Candler and Robbie and Traci Ballenger of Pisgah Forest; seven great grandchildren, Paige, Miranda, Meghan, MacKenzie, Christopher and Kendra Rice and Bailey Ballenger; son-in-law, Louis Travis and caregiver, Donica Tillman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Abel and Gus Martschink officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
