Ruby Joyce Smith

Swannanoa - Ruby Joyce Smith, 63, of 40 Myrtle Rd. died Monday, June 17, 2002 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe Co., she was retired from the Dietary Dept. of the Black Mtn. Center. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Minnie Smith Joyce. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Hardin, sisters, Nellie and Rachel Joyce, brother, Richard Brother Joyce, and her companion and pet, Petey. Surviving are her son, James Michael Hardin and wife, Laura of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, and Samuel; twin sister, Ruth; sisters, Minnie, Brenda, Margaret, and Georgia all of Asheville; several nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in he Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Coker and Mr. James Hardin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
