Ruby Grooms

Asheville – Ruby Estelle Carswell Grooms, 92, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at John F. Keever Jr. Hospice Solace Center.

A native of Burke County and resident of Buncombe County since 1949. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Isaiah and Callie Mace Carswell and wife of Harry “Bo” Grooms who died March 25, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stacie Gleesing; sisters, Ruth Wheeler and Vernie Gaddy; brother, Wilson Carswell

Mrs. Grooms was the owner & operator of Ruby’s Beauty Shop for over 32 years and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Ann Forbes and Jean Trantham and husband Charles all of Asheville; grandson, Chuck Trantham, and wife, August of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Natalie and Jackson; sister, Maggie Toney of Bostic and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
