Ruby Fowler Dryman, 87, formerly of 3 Hubbard Street, West Asheville died Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at the Autumn Care Nursing Home in Saluda. A native and resident most of her life in Buncombe County. Mrs. Dryman had retired from the Laundry Department at the Asheville V.A. Medical Center and following her retirement attended nursing school and worked as a nurses assistant at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees. She was a daughter of the late Fred Benjamin Fowler and Ellona Martha Ball Fowler and the wife of John B. Dryman who died in 1972. Surviving are her son, William Bill Kenneth Dryman, Sr. and wife, Christine of Hendersonville; sister, Azalee Buckner of Asheville; grandchildren, Johnny Dryman, Kenny Dryman and wife, Gail, Terry Dryman and Michael Dryman and wife, Sasha; great grandchildren, Donald Dryman and wife, Misty, Conner Dryman, Colton Dryman, Joby Stephens and Chuck Stephens and wife Bren; great great grandchildren, Cecilee Stephens and Brayden Stephens; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Branton, her grandsons and great grandsons. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
