Ruby Farlow Buckner

April 11, 1922 — January 14, 2011

Asheville - Ruby Farlow Buckner, 88, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired in 1984 as a Nurses Aid from Biltmore Manor, was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church, was a former volunteer of ABCCM and Aston Park Health Care. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Buckner was a daughter of the late Harley Lee and Molly Ennes Sircey Farlow and wife of Harry Edward Buckner who died July 11, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Patrick S. Hunter, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy B. Hunter and Linda B. Wright and husband William J. all of Asheville and Kathie B. Merriman and husband Michael of Candler; grandchildren, Jamie Warren and wife Reba of Canton, Kara Villarreal and husband Manuel of Fletcher, Amber Thurman and husband Chris of Wake Forest, Shelley Wright of Asheville and Bill Wright of Weaverville; step grandchildren, Patrick and Tabitha Merriman both of Candler; great grandchildren, Landon and Brooke Warren, Makenzie, Aidan, Gavin and Joel Villarreal, Makayla, Jacob, Samuel and Joshua Thurman; sister, Dorothy Worley and husband Sam of Leicester; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:30 P.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. and Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 4 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
