Royce Andrew Johnson

Asheville - Royce Andrew Johnson, 85, of 82 Johnson Road, went to be with his Lord, Friday April 18, 2008 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was the son of the late Jimmy Joe and Bertha Shook Johnson and was also preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Johnson, Mary Pounders, Marie Blankenship and Evelyn Johnson and brother, John Will Johnson. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Tipton Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Freeman and Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Junior Blankenship, Kenneth Blankenship, Coy Pounders, Josh Yarborough, Eddie Crowder and Carl Shook serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
