Candler Roy Lee Rogers, 67, of Candler, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Rogers worked as a Shop Foreman for Al J. Goodman and Sons, and as an Equipment Operator for Harrin Sand and Gravel. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was also an avid gun collector and enthusiast. His passion was Western movies and television shows, including Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and The Rifleman. Mr. Rogers was the son of Grace Black Rogers and the late Albert Rogers. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Rogers. In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 47 years, Pamela Houck Rogers; daughter, Tracy Rogers; grandchildren: Jason Dyer, Jackson Dyer, and Justin Dyer; great-grandchildren: Austin Dyer, Madison Dyer, and Everleegrace Dyer; and brother, David Rogers. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Jones and Chaplain Randy Lance officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 5:45 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of the Rogers, 61 Cathey Road, Candler, NC. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care of Western North Carolina, 21 Hospital Drive, Asheville, NC 28801. The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Michael Messino, Dr. Eric Kuehn, Dr. Stephen Seal, and the staff of Care Partners Hospice and Palliative Care for the care and compassion they have shown to them during their journey.
