Roy Lee Jones

Candler Roy Lee Jones, 57, went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2007 at the VA Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Jones. Roy was a decorated Marine of the Vietnam era and served with the 1st Recon Bn. he was a member of VFW Post 891, Blue Ridge Marine Corps. League and the DAV. He was a devout member of Carolina Baptist Tabernacle and a former member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Linda; beloved mother, Pauline; brothers: Ernest (Celina) Jones, and Ricky Jones; sisters: Shelia (Jerry) Passmore, Lesia (Tony) Craig, Pamela (Levon) Goodson, and Almeria (Mike) Waldrop; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 4 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lanny Cobb officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be former comrades-in-arms Mike Simpson and Steve Plunkett, family and close friends. Military Honors will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Roy Lee: We salute you! May you finally be at peace. God keep you.
