Roby Dotson

Swannanoa Roby McAffee Dotson, 80, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1999 following 37 years of service from Bell South Telephone Company. He was a member of Christian Creek Baptist Church and a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Dotson was the son of the late Harley William Dotson and Nellie Rebekah Lytle Dotson. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Barbara Grant Dotson of the home; daughters, Pamela Dotson Atkinson and husband James of Austin, TX and Tamela Dotson Mitchell and husband Mark of Braselton, GA; grandsons, Kevin Mitchell, Wes Mitchell (Valerie), Justin Atkinson (Amy), Lars Mitchell and Trevor Mitchell; 4 great grandchildren and sisters, Doris Moore and Carolyn Boone (Jerry) all of Swannanoa. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. John Huntley and Rev. Jack Presnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors to be provided by the NC National Guard. Pallbearers will be his 5 grandsons and his nephew. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:15 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
