Asheville – Robert Wayne Curtis, Sr., 74, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Maynard Walter Curtis and Virginia Mabel Smith Curtis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Elizabeth Curtis who passed away in 2016; sisters: Patsy Curtis and Wanda Roland; and brothers: Ken Curtis and Dean Curtis. Mr. Curtis served in the U.S. Army for seven years from 1965 till 1972 and then worked as a truck driver. He started his truck driving career with East West Trucking as a long-haul driver traveling back and froth from California. He finished his career in 2007 with World Class Transportation. He was a proud father, grand-father, and husband and will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his children: Robert Curtis, Jr and wife Amanda, Brandon Curtis and wife Angela, and Amy Curtis and husband Patrick Rathbone; grandchildren: Kyndal Rathbone, Cooper Curtis, Scarlett Curtis, Bryleigh Ingle, Anna-Grace Curtis, Peyton Curtis, Catie Curtis, and Selah Rathbone; and nephews and niece: Billy, Tracy, and Patsy. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in the Chapel at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Military honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard.
