Robert "Bob" Scott Howland

Robert "Bob" Scott Howland Sr., 77, of Safety Harbor, Florida, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Born on March 18, 1946, in Norfolk, VA, Bob was the son of John and Phyllis Howland. He was the beloved husband of both the late Shirley Howland and the late Jeanne Park.

Bob was a proud graduate of the State University Agricultural and Technical College at Farmingdale, NY, as well as the Pinellas Vocational and Technical Institute in Clearwater, FL. After an accomplished career, he retired from a fast-paced role at FedEx, embracing a more relaxed lifestyle. He had a deep interest in current events and was especially fascinated by SpaceX exploration.

Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing pool with his sons, building computers with his son Briane, and spending weekends watching car races and football. He and his wife Shirley shared a love for travel, particularly to England, where they enjoyed researching their ancestral roots.

Bob honorably served six years in the Air Force Reserves as a structural and pavement specialist, focusing on electrical maintenance. He also spent 1.5 years in South Korea with the Civil Engineers Squadron following the Korean conflict, demonstrating his dedication to service.

He is survived by his three sons: Wayne Howland, Briane Howland, and Robert Howland Jr.; as well as his beloved grandchildren: Ford and Presley Howland, Scott and Elana Howland, and Brayden Kirkland; and brother, John "Hank" Howland, III .

A joint funeral service honoring both Bob and his former wife, Jeanne Francine Park, will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
