Robert Dawson Carter

July 21, 1979 — May 24, 2003

Candler - Robert Dawson Carter, 23, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 24, 2003. Rob was a most beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, neighbor and friend to everyone he ever met. He is survived and greatly missed by his immediate family: mother and stepfather, Candace L. and Robert W. Decker, Jr. of Weaverville; father and step mother, Bruce D. and Paula Jo (Anthony) Carter of Candler; best friend and brother, Theodore (Ted) L. Carter of Candler. His stepsisters, Aimee Jean Decker of Weaverville and Anna Kristine Decker and stepbrother Robert W. Decker III of Fletcher also survive him. In addition, he is survived by paternal grandmother, Barbara L Carter of Endwell, NY; maternal aunt and uncle, Cindy and Bob Janac of NY; paternal aunt and uncle, Susan and James Klein of NY; paternal uncle and aunt, Steve and Kathy Carter of NJ; paternal uncle and aunt, David and Karen Carter and his cousins Ryan and Tyler of FL; paternal uncle and aunt, Jeff and Laureen Carter of CA. Rob was an honors graduate of Enka High School (1998) and A-B Tech (2001). T&E Technology of Asheville employed him and he will be greatly missed by owners Theo and Edith Prichett and their children (his friends and neighbors). He was always full of life and the life of any group of people with whom he joined. His hobbies included boating and water skiing, riding his motorcycle, anything related to computers, and tinkering with any engine ever built! He was a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and large dreams for the future. Rob had been employed for several years by Buncombe County Parks and Recreation as a lifeguard at the Skyland Recreation Center and Hominy Valley Pools. He had a steadfast loyalty to his family and friends and never met anyone he did not like, nor was there ever anyone who did not take and immediate liking to him. He was always willing to lend a hand to any and all for any worthy cause. A celebration of Robs life will be held at 6 PM Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, 1428 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. His immediate family requests that everyone whose life he touched join us. We also request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to your charity of choice.
