Robert "Bob" Rice

Asheville – Robert Alexander “Bob” Rice, 77, after fighting a courageous battle, was surrounded by his loving family at home and peacefully went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Monday, May 10, 2021. Mr. Rice was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a hard worker and was self-employed with many trade skills throughout the years. He had a loving heart and one of his greatest joys was helping others, especially his family. Mr. Rice attended Richland Baptist Church and took great comfort in reading his Bible throughout the years. Mr. Rice was the son of the late Charlie Jay Rice and Bernice Rice Moore. He was part of a large family, being one of thirteen kids. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Denny, Carol, Bobby and Vaughn Rice; sisters: Willie Mae Doan and Hazel Wadley; and three infant siblings. He is survived by the love of his life, Myrna Wilson Rice, his wife of 54 years; sons: Danny Craig (Pat), Alan Rice (Caroline), and Chuck Rice (Hannah); daughter, Tami Rice Young (Ronnie); sisters: Grace Honeycutt and Beatrice Robinson; brother, Howard Rice; grandchildren: Andi Craig, Mikayla Rhew, Jesse Rice, James Rice, Hunter Young, Hayden Young, and Maddie Rice; and great-grandchildren: Maddox, Layton, Dawson, and Ean. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 13 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Gassaway and Rev. Keith Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
