Asheville – Robert “Bob” Cleve Cook, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his residence.
A native of Emporia, KS, Bob was the son of late Orlando Cleve and Hildred Cook. Bob grew up with a passion for being an Eagle Scout, running track and helping his father on the farm. He graduated from Emporia High School and attended Kansas State University. He was drafted into the United States Army while in college and was a Vietnam Veteran. After service, he returned to Kansas State University and graduated in 1975 with a business degree.
Bob relocated to central Colorado, where he spent most of his life, in the vast San Louis Valley surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. During his life there, Bob worked in the potato industry and went on to manage Rocky Mountain Soils. Bob spent many weekends skiing at Wolf Creek Ski Resort. He loved gardening, golfing, tinkering with small engines, and his pets.
In retirement, Bob moved to Asheville to be closer to his only daughter, family, and grandchild. He spent his final days gardening, cooking and enjoying the warmth of Western North Carolina.
He was proceeded in death by both of his parents and survived by his brother Roy, sister-in-law, Teena and nieces Gretchen and Rachel. He is also survived by his daughter, Carey Cook, daughter-in-law, Angie and grandson, Jasper.
There will only be a private ceremony with family.
