Robena Sams Metcalf

Asheville - Robena Sams Metcalf, 71, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, December 11, 2004 at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Madison County she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired from Sears in 1992 after 25 years of service and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Metcalf was the daughter of the late Chonis H. and Dessie Rice Sams. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest and Emerson Sams. Surviving are her husband, Charles Charlie Metcalf of the home; daughters, Nancy Metcalf Lott and husband Neal of Horse Shoe and Debbie Metcalf Coddington and husband Jeff of Asheville; special dog, Tiffany; sister, Minnie Brown of Weaverville; brothers, Edward Sams of Rockville, VA and Ellis Sams of Haughton, LA; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Tucker and Ken Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
