Richard Thomas Tommy Redmond, 67, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Herman Redmon and Robena Laughter Redmon. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Rex Redmon and Robert Redmon. Tommy was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and Germany. He retired from Norfolk Southern as a Conductor after serving 26 years with the Railroad. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Bess Boone Redmond; daughter, Leah Redmond Eubanks and husband Jamie of Raleigh; son, Ellis Redmond of Asheville; granddaughters: Kayla Anne Eubanks, and Emma Grace Eubanks; sisters: Inez Stevens and husband Carl of Mills River, and Pam Buchholz and husband Ben of Jonesville, SC; brother, Grant Redmon and wife Johnnie of Weaverville; sisters-in-law: Margaret Redmon of Greenville, SC, and Faye Redmon of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, October 21, 2017, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Jamie Eubanks officiating. Military funeral honors will be performed by the NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
