Richard Thomas "Tom" Jump

June 16, 1941 — July 20, 2015

Richard Tom Jump, 74, went to be with his Lord, following an extended battle with Alzheimers, on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living Center. A native of Buncombe County he resided in Henderson County for more than 40 years. He was a son of the late Chester T. and Millie Jump. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and in 1968 received the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam. After his military service he was a Systems Analyst for Bell South until retiring in 1991, after which he started Information Resources, a computer training center where he taught over 3000 students to use a computer. He was a gifted teacher who loved the Lord and began teaching the Bible as a Sunday School teacher in his younger years. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sharon P. Jump; brother, C.T. Jump; and several nieces and nephews. Private services were held at Tuxedo First Baptist Church of which he was a member.
