Richard Allen Truett

Richard Allen Truett, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Richard was born in Andrews, North Carolina on March 14, 1947, and lived his early years in Asheville, North Carolina.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Mary Joyce Truett and his grandmother Estelle Bennett Oulla. He will be truly missed by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Truett; sons: Ricky and Michael Jones; brother, Michael Truett and wife Janet; brother-in-law, Terry Ryan and wife Ann Marie; brother-in-law, Michael Zammett and wife Mary Beth; sister-in-law, Paula Sathre; step-mother, Jan Truett; grandchildren: Victoria and Issac Eby (great-grandson, Daniel Liam Eby), Ricky Allen Jones III, Jeffrey Jones, and Eric Jones; many loved nieces and nephews; cousin, Truett West and wife Joanne and daughters Donna and Michelle and longtime friends that we include as family members.

Richard graduated from Lee Edwards High School in 1965, completed his bachelor’s degree at Western Carolina University in 1969 and completed his master’s and specialist in Education Degrees at the University of Georgia in 1971. Richard moved to Houston, Texas and worked for KBR for 37 years as a Project Procurement Manager. He received the “President’s Award for Excellence” in 1990 for his work on the Oman Embassy Project. Richard retired in 2015 and loved reading, hunting and fishing.

Relatives and close friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Green Hills Cemetery located at 25 New Leicester Hwy. Asheville, N. C. 28806.
