Rev. Neal O. Swann

Asheville - Rev. Neal Ogburn Swann, 71, of 25 Oakcrest Place, went to be with his Lord, Sunday May 11, 2003 at his residence following a long illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a retired Baptist Minister having preached for over 42 years, former owner of Swann and Swann Carpets and was a member of State Street Baptist Church. He was a son of the late William B. and Malita Williams Swann. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Blaine Swann, Harold Swann, Billy Swann and Paul Swann and sister, Barbara Davis. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Lee Greene Swann of the home; daughters, Charlene Swann and Trina Swann both of Asheville; sons, Danny Swann and wife, Sara and Tracy Swann all of Asheville; sister, Betty Plemmons of Asheville; brothers, Carl Swann and Ed Swann both of Asheville and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Stringer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Green Hills Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Hospice for the love and care given to their family.
