Asheville Rev. Marjorie Marie Bailey Patterson, 92, of Elk Mountain Road, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Elizabeth House. She was born May 7, 1925 in Henagar, AL and was raised in Manhattan, FL. From 1941-1945, she attended and graduated from Apostolic Bible School of Lakeland, FL and built two churches in Ft. Meade, FL and Ellisville, FL. In 1950, she married Rev. George S. Patterson and together, they pastored in Lake City, FL, Gastonia and Asheville. They then spent 13 years serving in missionary evangelism in the United Kingdom, Romania and Africa, and returning to pastor in Franklin, NC until their retirement in 2010. She was a daughter of the late James Austin Bailey and Hattie Mabel Hawkins Bailey and the wife of Rev. George Stanley Patterson who died October 14, 2014. Surviving are her son, Timothy G. Patterson and wife Diane and granddaughter, Mychela Patterson all of Asheville; sisters, Lois Hart of Charleston, SC and Micki Ledoux and husband Reg of Tampa, FL; brother, Cecil Bailey of Tampa, FL and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the River of Life with her son, Timothy G. Patterson officiating. Burial will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Marjories prayer life and ministry inspired and touched so many lives in her 70+ years of ministry. She was Gods warrior in the word and prayer. She lived a life of trust and faith in her great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a good and faithful servant who lived and died in victory!
