Leicester - Rev. James Edward Sutton, 56 , of 84 Hayes Cove Road went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at St. Josephs following a long illness. A native of Haywood County. He had resided in Buncombe County for the past 37 years. He was a Buncombe County Jail Chaplain for ABCCM and worked with the homeless in the W.N.C. area. Rev. Sutton was ordained at Glory Tabernacle Church and his ministries included the work of the Lord through our local prisons and nursing homes. He was a son of the late Mattie Cagle Sutton and was also preceded in death by his brothers, John, T.A. and Houston and sisters, Nellie, Mollie and Annie May. Surviving are his wife, Jackie Rathbone Sutton of the home; sons, Eddie Sutton and wife, Debbie of Hazelwood and D. Anthony Sutton of Asheville; daughter, Tonia Chandler and husband, Chuck of Leicester; grandchildren, Dawn, Tiffany and C.J. Chandler; sisters, Georgia Setzer and Minnie Sheffield both of Canton and Mary Smith of Cherokee; brothers, Ralph Cotton Sutton of Maggie Valley and Gene Sutton of Hazelwood. Memorial Services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Glory Tabernacle Church, 1221 Sweeten Creek Road, with Pastor Ronnie Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Glory Tabernacle Academy, 1221 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, N.C. 28803.
