Rev. Charles J. Duvall

Leicester Rev. Charles J. C.J. DuVall, born September 7, 1923, peacefully joined his family already in the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 16, 2017. C.J. DuVall, born in Blairsville, GA, was one of 9 children of the late Charles J. and Maggie Neely DuVall. Rev. DuVall was ordained June 22, 1952 at Georgetown Baptist Church. Over 58 years, C.J. pastored 8 churches in Buncombe and Yancey Counties, retiring in 2009. Although retired, he continued in faithful service to the Lord. He was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church and was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Army. He was married twice. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Margaret Hensley DuVall and second wife, Betty Boyd DuVall. He was also preceded in death by his 8 siblings, Floyd, Minnie, Wayne, Juanita, Lavita, Jud, Roy and Monteen and a daughter, Norma Jean Murphy. Surviving are his children, Jerry DuVall (Wanda), Allen DuVall (Lucy) and Daren DuVall; stepchildren, Sharon Boyd Fox, Mike Boyd (Terri) and Susan Cope (Mike); 7 grandchildren, Karen, Sharon, Desi, Eric, Stephanie, Melanie and Drew; 4 step grandchildren, Christy, Nicholas, Tangie and Sheletha; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Rhinehart and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 PM prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Mt.
