Candler Leona Renee Adcock Lunsford, 71, of 15 Paradise Ridge Road, joined the angels in Heaven on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Lunsford had resided in Buncombe County since 1970. She was employed the past 22 years with the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier, serving Rural Route 1 in the Candler area and was formerly employed for 15 years with the Asheville Citizen-Times as the first woman hired as a Circulation Manager. She was the daughter of the late Chester Adcock and Leona Ford Adcock Smith and was also preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Lee Rogers, Jr. Surviving are her husband/companion of 35 years, Daniel Lee Danny Lunsford, Sr. whom she married December 13, 1977; children, Ted Leon Holmes and wife Diane of Savannah, GA, Terri Holmes of Candler, Laney Renee Dalton (Keith Price) and James Robert Bass, Jr. and wife Katrena all of Florence, AL and Daniel Lee Lunsford, Jr. (Tina) of Candler; grandchildren, Christie, Stephanie, April, Tim, Crystal, Jay, Adam, Kayla, Jessica, Jennifer, Jayden, Destiny and Tyler and lifelong friends, Cecile Beasley and Carol Green both of AL and friend, John Walter Jordan, II of Asheville. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. James Lamb officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home.
