WEST ASHEVILLE - REGGIE LEE GARDNER, 89, OF 2 EOLA AVENUE DIED FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2001 AT GREEN TREE RIDGE FOLLOWING A PERIOD OF DECLINING HEALTH. A NATIVE OF YANCEY COUNTY. HE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY MOST OF HIS LIFE AND WAS CO-OWNER & OPERATOR OF G & R MOTOR SALES. HE WAS A MEMBER OF TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH, V.F.W. POST #891, DISABLED AMERICAN VETERAN, VANCE MASONIC LODGE #293 AND A W W I I VETERAN OF THE U.S. ARMY STATIONED IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC. MR. GARDNER WAS THE SON OF THE LATE WILLARD AND LIZZIE RATHBURN GARDNER AND THE HUSBAND OF THE LATE DEE BUCHANAN GARDNER. SURVIVING ARE HIS SISTER, MATTIE McMAHAN OF GREENVILLE, S.C.; SPECIAL FRIEND, NELLE MURRAY OF ASHEVILLE; THREE NIECES AND TWO NEPHEWS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2 P.M. SUNDAY AT THE CHAPEL OF ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. RANDY BRAY OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN PISGAH VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 1 TO 2 P.M.
