Rebecca Jo Taylor Parham

June 19, 1934 — September 25, 2014

Rebecca Jo Taylor Parham, 80, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center, after a long battle with heart disease. In over a decade of increased debilitation, she repeatedly defied the odds through her personal determination and the devoted caregiving of her husband of 58 years. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1950. Mrs. Parham loved to travel; she and her husband visited all 50 United States, several European countries, Mexico, and Canada. She also enjoyed bird watching and flower gardening. Mrs. Parham was a daughter of the late Joe Guy Taylor and Ossie Ball Taylor and was also preceded in death by her sister, Zora Taylor Rice and brothers, Claude and Weldon Taylor. Surviving are her husband, John Furman Parham of the home; children, Regina Parham of Raleigh, Johnna Parham of Asheville, and Keith Parham of Candler; granddaughter, Arrianne Rebecca Parham; sisters, Velda Taylor Clark of Asheville, Ila Taylor Hunter of Weaverville and Patsy Irene Taylor of Leicester; brother, Guy Roland Taylor (Deb) of Drexel and seven nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. The Parham family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. William W. Wharton III for his many years of outstanding compassionate care given to Mrs. Parham. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
