Raymond Wilson

Raymond Wilson, 90, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center. A native of Yancey County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Huie and Bertha Murphy Wilson and was married for 60 wonderful years to the late Elizabeth M. Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Raymond retired as a self-employed contractor from building homes, restaurants, and commercial buildings to custom design cabinets for many years. Many of those years he and his son worked together side by side. Raymond loved his family, spending time reading his bible, and was looking forward to seeing the Lord. Saying that he was an outdoorsman, is putting it lightly, if he wasn’t building something or on his tractor, you would find him hunting or fishing. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Chrissy Wilson of Fairview; granddaughter and her husband, Jatana and Emory Mitchell of Mill Spring; four great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Webb and husband Bill of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Grassy Branch Cemetery with Norval Hensley officiating. We are very grateful for the friends he had, especially Steve and Sam Nanny. He loved to hang out with them and tell some of the funniest stories together. A special thank you for the wonderful staff members at CarePartners Rehabilitation Center and the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center that took care of him and was so kind to him and the family while he was there.
