Ray Gail Sponsler, 79, died peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimers disease on November 1, 2011 in Asheville, NC. Ray was born on July 13, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, to Otis Gail and Theo Marie Sponsler, and spent most of his youth and young adulthood in Denver, Colorado. Ray attended Northwestern University and graduated from the University of Denver in 1954. He served in the Navy and Army Reserves during the Korean War. Ray worked in various sales and management positions for Ingersoll Rand for nearly 30 years until he purchased the Millers Falls Tool Company in 1982. He retired in 1997. Ray resided in Holland Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, from 1975 to 2005, where he served on the Town Committee and as a Deputy Mayor. Ray played the piano and loved music. He also enjoyed reading, working in the yard and was an avid golfer. Ray is survived by his sister, Theo Elaine Sponsler and her husband, Mark Miller; daughter, Deborah Breck and her husband, Michael; son, Barry Sponsler and son, Brian Sponsler and his wife, Evangeline; seven grandchildren and one great grandson. A family memorial service will be held in 2012.
