Randy Erwin

July 1, 1949 — October 1, 2022

Asheville – Clayton Wayne “Randy” Erwin, 73, of 12 Merlin Way, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2022.


A native for most of his life of Buncombe County, he served his country as a Vietnam War veteran having served in the US Marine Corps, served our county as a Firefighter, EMS, Paramedic, Asheville Police Department, retiring from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department and he served his Lord through Erwin Hills Baptist Church.


He was a son of the late Charles Nathaniel Erwin and Betty Buckner Erwin. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Erwin; brother, Ronnie Erwin and sister, Joyce LiVolsi.


Surviving are his wife, Jane Keylon Erwin of the home; sons, Wayne Erwin and wife Vicki and Jason Erwin all of Alexander; step son, Greg Goforth and wife Crystal of Kannapolis; granddaughter, Jada Erwin; step grandsons, Josh Riden and Javin Favichia; 3 great- grandchildren; brothers, Mike Erwin of Centreville, VA and Mark Erwin of Old Fort; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Cherie Frisbee.


Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Erwin Hills Baptist Church, 281 New Leicester Hwy, Asheville, with Rev. Andy McDevitt officiating.


The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church.


The memorial graveside service will be held at 12 Noon Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the US Marine Corps.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erwin Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 6903, Asheville, NC 28816.
