Ralph Buckner

Asheville - Ralph Buckner, 86, of 289 Brickyard Rd. died Sunday, December 23, 2001 at Mission/St. Josephs Health System after an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Buncombe County, he was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he was a member of the Mens Bible Class and he was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II. Mr. Buckner was the son of the late Fred H. And Edith Williams Buckner. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Irene Hembree Buckner of the home; sons, Bruce Buckner and wife Judy of Elkin and Dale Buckner and wife Ann of Canton; brother, Raymond Buckner of Mars Hill; granddaughters, Rachael and Joanna Buckner; step grandson, Greg Raxter and wife Karla; great granddaughter, Megan Raxter. Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Monday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. John Bussard and Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will be in Sluder Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Mt. Carmel Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
