Black Mountain – Phyllis Loynd Williams Simpson, 83, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Care Partners John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Simpson retired as a Clerical Supervisor with the Buncombe County WIC Office and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge, and in her later years, loved attending the Mountain Care Adult Day Program. Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Albert and Nellie McElreath Loynd, and was the wife of the late Harry Williams, who passed away in 2007. Surviving are her daughter, Maretta Mori; grandchildren: DeWayne Guzman, Leo Guzman (Robin), and Romeesa Sulkowski (Jason); eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Gladys Williams. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Leicester. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
