Phillip Michael Israel

Phillip Michael Israel, 72, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by his family. A native of Buncombe County, he attended the Rock Church and was the son of the late W.H. Israel and Cora Frank Moss Israel. Michael was a faithful and devoted servant of God. He knew no strangers and gave everything God blessed him with to those around him. He was guided and grounded by his faith and will be tremendously missed. Surviving is the mother of his children, Janice Herren Israel, with which he had a special bond; his children, Julie Drake and husband Jack and Jonathan Israel and wife Julie; grandchildren, Emma Katelyn Drake and Noah John Michael Israel; sister, Sandra McCollum and nieces, Kim Abernathy, Denise Froehle and Cynthia McCollum. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 3, 2017 at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
