Philip Charles Wesley Franklin, 56, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Mission Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Philip and Rose Marie Hodgeman Franklin. He was also preceded in death by his stepmom, ImaJean Franklin, and son, Vincent Franklin.
Philip attended Enka High School and was a longtime member of Georgetown Baptist Church. He dedicated his life to the service of others through his work as a self-employed roofing contractor for over 26 years in Western North Carolina. In his free time, Philip enjoyed working on his cars, especially his Camaros, playing the guitar, camping and traveling to the beach and Gatlinburg with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his companion, Amy Abernathy; sons: Trevor Franklin and wife Bradee, Tristin Franklin, and Tanner Franklin; granddaughter, Sawyer Franklin; siblings: Willima Henry Franklin, Deborah Marie Flynn and husband Russell, Kevin Franklin, and Christian Franklin and wife Stephanie; and many extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 5 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday immediately following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Philip’s memory to the Cajun Navy, at cajunnavyrelief.com.
