- PERRY ELLIS CLARK, 64 OF 100 NEW SALEM ROAD, DIED SATURDAY DECEMBER 23, 2000 AT HIS RESIDENCE AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS. A LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY, HE HAD RETIRED FROM BEACON MANUFACTURING COMPANY, SWANNANOA, AFTER 20 YEARS OF SERVICE AS FREIGHT ELEVATOR OPERATOR. HE WAS A VERY GIVING PERSON, DURING THE YEARS AT BEACON, HE PLAYED SANTA CLAUS EVERY CHRISTMAS BUYING GIFTS FOR NUMEROUS CHILDREN IN THE SWANNANOA AREA. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE BESSIE A. CLARK AND BROTHER OF THE LATE BIRTIE MAE CLARK. SURVIVING ARE HIS BROTHER, TILLERY CLARK OF THE HOME AND SEVERAL COUSINS. FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. BURIAL WILL BE IN SKYVIEW MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 8:30 P.M. TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO; ST. JUDE CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, 501 ST. JUDE PLACE, MEMPHIS, TN 38103.
