Peggy Guthrie

May 29, 1939 — February 14, 2015

Asheville Peggy Ann Jones Guthrie, 75, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Buncombe County, Ms. Guthrie resided in Marshall for eight years before returning to Asheville. She attended Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, and was devoted to being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Ms. Guthrie was the daughter of the late Grady and Savannah Clark Jones, and was also preceded in death by sisters: Helen Jones, Clara Plemmons, and Marie Bennett; brother, Vernon Jones; grandsons: Matthew Guthrie and Kurt Wallen; and granddaughter, Christy Freeman. Surviving are her children: Pam Wallen, Bruce Guthrie and wife Joy, Randy Guthrie and wife Lisa, Roger Guthrie and wife Dana, Steve Guthrie and wife Janice, and Tina Bradley and husband Doug; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Golden; brother, Paul Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 3:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ridgview Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 117 Mag Sluder Road, Alexander, NC 28701.
