Asheville – Ila Pearl Medford Radford, 95, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Jackson County, she had resided in Canton, NC most of her life prior to moving to Asheville in 1971. She retired in 1982 from Brooks-Howell Retirement Home after 8 years of service as a cook; was a member of Biltmore Church and was one of 13 children. Mrs. Radford was a daughter of the late William Medford and Fannie Nancy Greene Medford and wife of Woodrow “Woody” Kenneth Radford who died July 19, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hayman who died May 6, 2009. Surviving are her daughters, Arlene Allison of Leicester, Angelia “Ann” Kathryn Hayman of the home; son, Harry Ray Hayman of Vale; sister, Hester Zapien of Buckley, WA; 7 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, June 3, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Chad Ellege officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Thursday prior to services at the funeral home.
