Pearl G. Scroggs

Leicester - Pearl Ada Gillespie Scroggs, 92, of 109 Brookshire Road, died Saturday December 14, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Walhalla, SC she had resided in Buncombe County since 1955. She was an owner & produce manager at W.N.C. Farmers Market. Mrs. Scroggs was a daughter of the late Adger and Ada Duckworth Gillespie and the wife of Marvin Lee Scroggs who died March 4, 1951. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Lucille Bender, Mildred Evelyn Scroggs, Eleanora Etta Woody and Eva Ray Wise. Surviving are her daughters Eunice Lee Price of Seneca, SC, Opal Jean Chrisman and Betty Ann Ascione both of Leicester; sister, Jessie Matilda Rogers of Leicester; brother, Harold Adger Gillespie of Walhalla, SC; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren 11 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great granddaughter. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Revs Dr. John T. Tiller and Alf Miller officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North Walhalla Church of God Cemetery, Walhalla, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
