Pauline Tipton

Candler Pauline Downs Tipton, 90, went to be with her Lord Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. Mrs. Tipton was a native of Haywood County and had resided in Buncombe County since 1947. She was the daughter of the late Loyd Alonzo Downs and Clercy Jane Morrow Downs. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Boyd Mack Tipton who died January 18, 1998, daughter; Betty Jean Tipton, sister; Irene Phillips, twin sister; Christine Gregory, brothers; Rufus Downs and Lawrence Downs and granddaughter; Cheryl Rogers. Surviving are her children; Clifford W. Tipton of Candler, David Kent Tipton and wife, Marilyn of Horse Shoe and Linda Rogers and husband, William of Climax, MI; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Monday at Pole Creek Baptist Church of which she was a member with the Rev. Dennis Thurman, Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller and Rev. Derrick McCarson officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Monday at the church.
