Pauline Lautier

October 31, 1923 — January 12, 2015

Waynesville Pauline Haynes Lautier, 91, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015. A native of Polk County, Mrs. Lautier resided for a time in Lafayette, LA, where she was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She received her B.A. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill, and was very active in the Chevron Wives Club, the Bud Watchers Garden Club, and the Republican Womens Club. She was also a holder of North Carolina Realtors License. Mrs. Lautier was a fiercely independent woman and had a passion for caring for plants, and tending to property she owned in the Fines Creek community. Mrs. Lautier was the daughter of the late John Badger and Florence Dotson Haynes, and was the wife of the late Charles Helmich Lautier. Surviving are her sons: Jeffrey Charles Lautier and wife Janice Kidwell Lautier, and Paul Christian Lautier and wife Mary Hayes Lautier; grandchildren: Rebecca Marie Lautier, Benjamin Charles Lautier, Michelle Dawes, Phillip Lautier, Nate Lautier, and Charles Lautier; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Haynes; and sister, Frances Haynes Jenkins. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Oxner officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home.
