Pauline Hooper

Asheville - Pauline Compton Hooper, 96, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek. A native of Haywood County, Mrs. Hooper had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Mrs. Hooper was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Annie Whitner Compton, and was the wife of the late Robert Lee Hooper. Surviving are her son, Bob Hooper and wife Kay of Greenville, SC; daughters: Mary Anne Rayburn of Arden and Carolyn Lance of Asheville; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Oaks of Sweeten Creek, Activities Department, 3864 Sweeten Creek Road, Arden, NC 28704.
