Leicester – Pauline Cantrell Cassada, 96, the daughter of the late Sampson and Leta Caldwell Cantrell of the Leicester community, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by a family who loved her dearly. She was the wife of the late Cecil Cassada who passed away on January 15, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters: Mae McCracken and Bonnie Teague; and three brothers: Hubert, Walter, and Clarence. Left to cherish the memory of the sweetest Mom we knew are her daughters: Barbara Greene of Crabtree and Shirley (Jimmie) Fender of Leicester. She was a loving Nanny to her grandchildren: Jason (Sara) Greene of Waynesville, Scott (Pamela) Fender of Leicester, and Angela (Shane) Wilde of Bowling Green, KY; great-grandchildren: Madeline (Bill) Herring, Caroline Greene and fiancé Kaleb, Brennan, Parker, Preston Fender, Luke Tracy, Trent Thomas, and Tallen Wilde. God blessed her to see five generations with a great-great-grandson, William David Herring. She also has eight step great-grandchildren: Jade, Andrea, Lily, Elijah, Nina, Will, Zoe, and Ava; and two step great-great-grandchildren: Silas and Connor; two sisters-in-law: Rena Cantrell and Lucille Cassada; and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. A very Special thanks to a very Special caregiver, Linda Swain, an Angel from Heaven. Also special thanks to our Leicester Fire Department and Four Seasons Hospice. Due to Covid and other sicknesses, a private family service will be held with burial to follow at the Brick Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor her life can be sent to Brick Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 53, Leicester, NC 28748.
