WEAVERVILLE - PAUL MYERS, SR., 83, OF 11 PINE ST. DIED SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2000 AT HIS RESIDENCE AFTER A LENGTHY ILLNESS. HE WAS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY AND HE WAS A VETERAN OF THE US ARMY, SERVING DURING WW II. MR. MYERS WAS THE SON OF THE LATE WILLIAM ARTHUR MYERS, SR. AND JOSIEPHINE P. MYERS. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS BROTHERS, REX CARROL MYERS AND RICHARD ZANE MYERS. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE, WILLIE HAZEL MAYNARD MYERS OF THE HOME; DAUGHTERS, JANIET LEE MYERS HARWOOD AND HUSBAND TERRY MICHAEL OF ASHEVILLE, AND BRENDA KAY MYERS OF ASHEVILLE; SON, PAUL CLYDE MYERS, JR. AND WIFE JENNIFER; BROTHERS, WILLIAM ARTHUR MYERS, JR. AND MAX VINCENT MYERS , BOTH OF WEAVERVILLE; SISTERS, JENNIE LOU INGLE OF WEAVERVILLE, MARGARET NICHOLAS OF WAYNESVILLE, AND MARY CATHERINE ROBERTS OF WEAVERVILLE; GRANDCHILDREN, LYDIA HARWOOD SNELSON AND HUSBAND MICHAEL OF LEICESTER, CHRISTOPHER ADAM BLANKENSHIP OF WEAVERVILLE, DANIEL AARON BLANKENSHIP OF WEAVERVILLE, AMBER MYERS BURTON AND HUSBAND LAWRENCE OF SWANNANOA, STEVEN ALAN ROBERTS OF WEAVERVILLE, AND PAUL CLYDE MYERS, III; GREAT GRANDSONS, MICHAEL AUSTIN SNELSON, CODY NATHANIEL WEBB, LOGAN ANTHONY MYERS, AND CHRISTIAN ALEXANDER BURTON. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1 PM TUESDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REVS. TROY ROGERS AND D.L. MAYNARD OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE AT ASHELAWN GARDENS OF MEMORY WITH MILITARY GRAVESIDE RITES CONDUCTED BY THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY VETERANS COUNCIL/VOLUNTEER MEMORIAL TEAM. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 UNTIL 8:30 PM MONDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. AT OTHER TIMES, THE FAMILY WILL BE AT THE RESIDENCE.
