CANDLER - PAUL JUDSON TEW, 84, OF 26 LOG CABIN TRAIL WENT TO BE WITH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2000 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF GREENVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, HE HAD LIVED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY SINCE 1966. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, GAINESVILLE, FL. AND WAS A SKILLFUL ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTSMAN/DESIGNER FOR 50 YEARS. HE LAST WORKED FOR ENG/SIX ASSOCIATES OF ASHEVILLE. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE REV. CORNELIUS TATE AND KATE HENRY TEW. HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY THREE BROTHERS, EARL, ALTON AND ROY; TWO SISTERS, RUTH AND MAMIE. SURVIVING IS HIS HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART AND BELOVED WIFE OF 62 YEARS, HELEN ANDREU TEW; TWO DAUGHTERS, BARBARA TEW YOUNG AND HUSBAND FRANK AND THEIR CHILDREN STEPHEN YOUNG AND JENNIFER YOUNG OF GAINESVILLE, FL, MARTHA TEW CALLOWAY AND HER CHILDREN STEFANIE CONNOR AND HUSBAND WAYNE, JASON CALLOWAY AND VAN CALLOWAY ALL OF CANDLER, SON JOHN GERALD TEW AND WIFE HEATHER AND THEIR CHILDREN PAUL FOSTER, BENJAMIN COOLEY, IAN TEW AND CODY TEW ALL OF MARTINEZ, GA; BROTHER, CORNELIUS TEW AND WIFE MAMIE OF MIAMI, FL; GREAT GRANDDAUGHTERS, WHITNEY, HEATHER, ERIN, LAUREN, PAIGE AND VALERIE. HE WAS A LOVING, KIND, GIVING AND PROUD DADDY TO SIX CHILDREN - HIS OWN AND THREE GRANDCHILDREN, GIDGET (STEFANIE), JASON AND VAN. HE ALWAYS PUT THE NEEDS OF OTHERS BEFORE HIS OWN. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL WHO LOVED AND KNEW HIM. FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 P.M. FRIDAY AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 5 OAK STREET, ASHEVILLE WITH THE REV. GREG METCALF OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN PISGAH VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 UNTIL 8:30 PM THURSDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME. THE FAMILY WISHES TO EXPRESS THEIR HEART FELT THANKS TO ALL THE FRIENDS AND CAREGIVERS WHO HAVE HELPED THEM THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME AND PROVIDED SUCH WONDERFUL CARE TO THEIR DADDY/PAPA.
