Candler – Paul Herbert Ledford, Jr, 69, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2007 from Meritor where he served as Facility Manager. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, playing his guitar and was a published author. First and foremost, he loved his family and was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was a 1970 graduate of Enka and received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Shaw University. Mr. Ledford was the son of the late Paul Herbert Ledford, Sr and Beulah Chasteen Blankenship Ledford and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy and Tommy Ledford. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Vaughn Ledford of the home; sons, Adrian Michael Ledford and wife, Theodora of Candler and their children, Paul, Jonathan and Zachary, and Jason Daniel Ledford and wife, Despina of Asheville and their children, Constantine and Chloe, and sister, Terry Morgan of Candler. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Tim Warren officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
