Asheville - Paul Ernest Morgan, Sr., 70. went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 12, 2002 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1994 from B.A.S.F. after 40 years of service and retired in June 2001 from the Buncombe County School system where he was employed for 6 years as a special education bus driver. He was a member of the West Asheville Church of God and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Phillip Ernest and Hattie Williams Morgan and the step-son of the late Flora Hyatt Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Webb; brothers, Charles Morgan and James Robert Morgan and sister, Marie Robinson. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Norma Whittemore Morgan of the home; son, Paul E. Morgan, Jr. and wife, Karen of Arden; son-in-law, Eddie Webb of Weaverville; grandsons, Bailey Morgan of Arden, Michael Webb, Ryan Webb and Eli Webb all of Weaverville; sisters, Barbara Zackary of Arden, Rebecca Ouderkirk of Hendersonville, Joyce Gunter of Greenville, S.C. and Teresa Pennington of Waynesville; brother, Phillip B. Morgan of Candler. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Pisgah View Memorial Park, Candler with the Rev. Aaron Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving Christian, Husband and Father.
