Pat Lands

Asheville - Patricia Gayle Pat Lands, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center. Pat was born February 14, 1934 in Buncombe County. Upon raising her children, Pat became employed at Murphys Mart in Hampton, VA until 1983. Pat and her family returned to Asheville and became employed in food/grocery retail at Bi-Los and Ingles. She retired in 2006. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lucious Lands; sons: Gerald, Jack, William, and Timothy; parents: Wayne and Argylle Melton; and sister, Kay McKinney. Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Toogood-Flynn of Philadelphia, PA; sons: Joseph Lands (Margaret) of Newport News, VA, and David Lands and Charles Lands, both of Oakley; sister, Mrs. G.D. Janice Smith of Fairview; 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. A memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Chris Willett officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 8:30 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
