Oscar "Bud" Mashburn, Jr.

November 27, 1947 — February 10, 2022

Asheville – Oscar Manuel “Bud” Mashburn, Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2012 from Pepsi Cola following 36 years of service, and was formerly employed with RC and Coke. He was a Vietnam War US Army veteran. Mr. Mashburn was a son of the late Oscar Manuel Mashburn and Mamie Lee Conner Mashburn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ree Taylor Masburn who died March 15, 2019 and brother, Ronnie Mashburn. Surviving are his daughter, Tammy Johnson and husband, Michael of Clyde; son, Phillip Brian Mashburn of Asheville; grandsons, Tyler Lee Johnson and Michael Brian Johnson both of Clyde; sisters, Rose Sexton and Ruby Warren both of Asheville; brothers, Rev. Kenneth Mashburn and wife, Glenda of Connelly Springs, Gary Mashburn and wife, Debbie of Swannanoa and Michael Mashburn and wife, Kathy of Candler and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with military honors provided by the NC National Guard Honor Team. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated, however for those who wish, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
